Indulge yourself with a Strawberry Facials and Pedicure and other Strawberry Treats!!!

Here are some ideas about ways to use strawberries as facials:

This one is supposed to be good for acne as well. Mash together ¼ cup of strawberries with ¼ cup of sour cream or plain yogurt. Apply, leave on for 10-15 minutes.

Benefits: acne healer, pore cleaner, blackheads remover and it has a natural exfoliant effect.

Cut a strawberry lengthwise and gently massage the cut side over the skin on the face. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse. The acids in the strawberry exfoliate the skin and give it a beautiful glow!

You only need three ingredients to whip up this face mask and it is so deliciously fabulous for your skin. Strawberries are filled to the brim with healthy antioxidants, vitamin C, and salicylic acid (found in good acne creams) and let’s face it: strawberries make a girl feel nice and pampered. Don’t they? Is it just me?

How to Make Your Own Strawberry Facial:

5-6 ripe strawberries
2 T ground almonds
3 T yogurt

Using a coffee grinder or blender grind the almonds into crumbs. In a separate bowl mash the strawberries together (really well). Once the strawberries are a good mashed consistency, add yogurt and almonds and mix the whole thing together until you have a nice consistency.

Spread the strawberry mixture all over your face and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Go watch an episode of one of your favorite shows (a short show, no Grey’s Anatomy or movie marathons today, sorry) while the facial has time to soak into your skin.

Wash mask off with lukewarm water.

Don’t you feel better already? Those strawberries, they get me every time.

STRAWBERRY FACIAL MASK Homemade Strawberry Facial Mask Ingredients •4 to 5 very ripe, medium size strawberries •2 teaspoons heavy cream •1 teaspoon honey What to do Rinse the strawberries and dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. In a small bowl, mash fruit with a fork. Add cream and honey, mixing well. Apply immediately and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse of with lots of warm water.

If you’re not into the DIY route here is one that I have used and like:

You can find it at Ulta!

Strawberry Daiquiri Pedicure: In a large bowl combine 1/2 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, and 1 tablespoon pureed strawberries. Use this mixture generously to exfoliate your heels, feet, and calves. Rinse the scrub off and use warm washcloth to remove excess sugar granules. Massage feet & calves with 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons honey, 1/2 cup coconut cream, and 1 cup pureed strawberries.

So why not indulge a bit while your relaxing with that yummy strawberry mask on your face? Try this:

The Chocolate-Lovers Margarita
– 3 parts chocolate milk (store bought or homemade)
– 1 part Sauza Silver Tequila
– 1 part strawberry puree or daiquiri mix
– Chocolate covered strawberry

Combine chilled chocolate milk, Sauza and strawberry puree in a tall glass. Stir vigorously to combine. Pour into a glass and garnish with a chocolate covered strawberry.

Here is the recipe:

2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
3 cups fresh strawberries, mashed
1 cup whipped topping
1 package (12 ounces) frozen unsweetened blueberries
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup water

Line a 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pan with a double thickness of foil; set aside. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and sour cream until smooth. Fold in strawberries and whipped topping. Pour into prepared pan. Cover and freeze for several hours or overnight.
In a small saucepan, bring the blueberries, sugar and water to a boil; cook and stir for 3 minutes. Cool slightly. Transfer to a blender; cover and process until pureed. Refrigerate until chilled.
Remove dessert from the freezer 15-20 minutes before serving. Use foil to lift out of pan; remove foil. Cut into slices with a serrated knife. Serve with blueberry sauce. Yield: 10-12 servings.

Hope in a Jar/Magic Creams for Brown spots and Aging skin

For many years I have had this brown spot of my left cheek.
Years ago I had over the course of about 3 years numerous treatments with a laser that removed it.  But the results were only temporary as the spot came back after about 6 months.

August, 2013 I made an appointment and saw a dermatologist in hope of getting it removed. This spot is about the size of a quarter.

Before any treatment:

After a biopsy in 4 places:

it was determined that it was non-cancerous (yeah!) I have been undergoing treatments using a form of liquid nitrogen. This started back in August, 2013 and I have my last one early February, 2014. After my last treatment it appeared that most of the brown spot was gone so I was happy. Of course the skin was still pink in the areas of the biopsy but it was looking pretty good overall. All I really want is to be able to put on foundation and blush and not have to go through extensive color correcting and concealing to make the skin look flawless.

After a follow-up visit late March, 2014 some of the Hyperpigmentation was coming back even though it has been a long winter and I have not spent any time out in the sun. The dermatologist determined that some of the pigmentation was deeper in some areas which is why it was coming back. She then prescribed a cream for me that is a combination of a bleaching agent and retina a (C-TRET-HC-HYDROQUINON 0/025%=2.5%=8%) which I have been using daily since I got it. I have been working up to using it 2 a day as recommended and trying not to end up with dry flaky patches of skin. I use sun screen on a daily basis to protect my skin from any further damage. I use LA Roche-Posay Anthelois 60 and I highly recommend it.

You can find it here:

You can also find it at CVS

I will update you on the progress as time goes on. It seems to be getting lighter so far.

Have any of you had brown spots that you have had treated? What was the treatment used and the outcome? What moisturizers have you used with retin-a that you have found to be non-irritating and effective? Do you have any other helpful and useful comments about this subject?
